Graduate School of Business and Commerce

Graduate School - Graduate School of Business and Commerce

Master's Program Capacity: 80 Major: Commerce
Doctoral Program Capacity: 20 Major: Same as Master's Program

Overview
The foundation principle of the Graduate School of Business and Commerce embraces the legacy of Yukichi Fukuzawa’s Spirit of “Jitsugaku.” (See https://www.keio.ac.jp/en/about/ for further explanation of Jitsugaku.) Through theory and empirical evidence, we seek to understand current global industrial society and investigate how progress and change take place. Based on this principle, we created the Academic Research Course and the Accounting for Professionals Course in our Master’s Program in April 2007*.  The Academic Research Course is for those who wish to become researchers and educators, while the Accounting for Professionals Course is for training those who wish to be directly involved in the economic system through managing corporations or as specialists on social systems. Through courses in the specific field of study as well as interdisciplinary areas of studies, the objective is for students to acquire specialist knowledge and develop a broadminded perspective.
*The Keio Graduate School of Business and Commerce will no longer be accepting students to the “Accounting for Professionals Course” as of April, 2018 (Academic year, 2018).
Career Paths
The Accounting for Professionals Course covers the latest theories in accounting, management, finance, governance and prepares students for careers in accounting professions (a CPA, for example) or becoming a leader of corporate citizens. In the Academic Research Course and Doctoral Program, we prepare students for careers in research institutes and think tanks, as well as research educators in universities in Japan and overseas.
